Ptosis Correction at DU Plastic Surgery Seoul

Overview

Ptosis — a weak levator muscle that cannot lift the lid fully — makes eyes look sleepy and forces the forehead to compensate, etching horizontal wrinkles. Ptosis correction tightens or reattaches the lifting muscle so the eyes open bright and effortlessly.

At DU it is performed alone or, very commonly, together with double eyelid surgery: correcting the muscle first, then setting the fold, produces the wide-awake yet natural eye shape neither procedure achieves alone. The operation takes about 30 minutes.

Why Ptosis Correction at DU

  • Treats the cause — the lifting muscle — not just the skin
  • Relieves forehead strain and the wrinkles it creates
  • Combines seamlessly with double eyelid surgery in one session
  • About 30 minutes with stitches out at day 7

Recommended for

  • Eyes that look sleepy or heavy even when fully awake
  • Raising eyebrows habitually to see, with forehead wrinkles
  • Asymmetric eye openness between the two sides
  • Double-eyelid candidates whose lids also open weakly

Ptosis Correction — FAQ

How do I know if I have ptosis?

Look straight ahead relaxed: if the lid covers a significant part of the iris, or your brows lift to compensate, ptosis is likely — confirmed by examination.

Will my eyes look unnaturally wide?

No — correction is calibrated to a natural degree of opening matched between both eyes, not maximized.

Is it covered by insurance?

Severe functional ptosis may qualify under Korean insurance; cosmetic-degree correction is typically not. Your consultation clarifies your case.

What is recovery like?

Stitches out at day 7 with mild swelling for 1–2 weeks; the final eye shape settles over the following month.
